Continuing Education Class Details

All Focal Point Seminar courses will take place from 8 am to 5 pm with an hour lunch break during the day. Please arrive between 7:30 am and 7:45 am at your chosen course location in Hickory, NC, or Lenoir, NC. You must present a photo ID for the in-person course. The cost of the course is $195. Continuing Your Education

All continuing education classes for an 8-hour renewal must be completed by November 30th, 2025. Sign up for your 8-hour course requirements to renew your NC General Contractors License for 2026.

The recently passed General Statute 87-10.2 states that North Carolina licensed general contractors will be required to complete continuing education (CE) beginning with 2021 license renewals.

A license expires on January 1, following its issuance or renewal and shall become invalid 60 days from that date unless renewed, subject to the approval of the board. It is the responsibility of each licensee to renew his/her license no later than December 31st of each year.

As a condition of license renewal, at least one qualifier or qualifying party of a licensee coding a building contractor, residential contractor, or unclassified contractor license classification shall complete, on an annual basis, 8 hours of continuing education approved in accordance with this section. The licensee shall complete this requirement for the license to remain valid.

All applicants filing for licensure in the Intermediate or Unlimited limitations must submit the application form, an audited financial statement with an unqualified opinion, a classified balance sheet, and notes to the financial statement prepared by a certified public accountant or an independent accountant who is engaged in the general practice of accountancy. The audited financial statement cannot be older than twelve (12) months from the date of receipt of the application by the Licensing Board.
